Italian Blackamoor painted wood figure c1890

Antique "Blackamoor"sculpture. Late 19th century Italian hand painted wood blackamoor figure with the original polychrome. The majordomo staff is replaced.Height: 52 and one half inches.Width 17 inches. Condition is excellent with some minor areas where the paint was retouched. This figure is one of the most well carved and painted blackamoor sculptures from this period we have ever handled.

Pair Horse head sculptures painted wood c1860

Antique matched pair of Horse head sculptures in painted wood c1860 to 1880. "Wooden Horse Heads". A fine and true pair of wooden carved, life size mirror image horse heads, with excellent detail and original paint. The wood carving was obviously done by a master carver. There were many famous wood carvers that did life size animal carvings for carousels.This carving is as good as any we have seen.To see similar examples of this quality carving from the mid to late 19th century see "The Carousel Animal"by Tobin Fraley with pictures by Gary Sinick Zephyr Press c1983. Can be sold separately.The height of each horse head measures 26 inches and the. width 21 inches. Depth: 21 in.

RARE! antique French Zinc figure of Dogs head c1880. This rare zinc figure of a dogs head was purchased in France over 30 years ago and retains its original paint. Excellent original as found condition This zinc dogs head measures 16 inches high by 23 inches long by 8 and one half inches deep.

This unique arts and crafts period frame is from the late 19th century with engraved metal mythological masks,flowers,medieval courting figures and a shield all mounted on a oak wood background. The frame measures 9 by 12 inches and the inset area measures 4 by 6 inches. This frame would make a lovely table or dresser top mirror.
