European walnut crest, possibly Italian, 13th to 14th century. Carved with a spread winged eagle perched on an orb, flanked by a pair of kneeling angels and open scrollwork. Traces of red and green pigment and gold leaf. 16.75 inches long x 5.25 inches high x 2 inches deep.
